As a yoga therapist, I have become deeply passionate about bringing the benefits of yoga to seniors and older adults in my community. As we age, maintaining mobility, strength, and balance becomes increasingly important, yet many seniors struggle to find exercise programs suited to their needs and abilities. That's where my yoga therapy comes in.

Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga
My approach to teaching yoga for older populations is grounded in safety, accessibility, and personalization. I've completed specialized training in adapting yoga poses and sequences for seniors and older adults, with a keen eye for modifications that allows my clients to participate comfortably regardless of their physical abilities. My private sessions always begin with a gentle warm-up to increase circulation and lubricate the joints, followed by a thoughtful progression of standing, seated, and supine poses that build strength, flexibility, and balance.
Importantly, I avoid poses that put undue stress on the wrists, knees, or lower back - common problem areas for seniors. Instead, I focus on postures that improve posture, tone the core, and enhance overall mobility. Breathwork and meditation are also a core component of each session, helping my clients to cultivate the mind-body connection that is so transformative in a yoga practice.
Private Yoga Therapy Sessions
Many of my clients live alone or have limited mobility, so I am able to bring my services to my clients' homes, where they can learn and practice yoga in their own safe environment. Ultimately, my mission is to empower older adults to maintain their independence, vitality, and zest for life through the practice of yoga. I've seen firsthand how consistent practice can restore range of motion, rebuild strength, and imbue students with a renewed sense of confidence and well-being. It's incredibly rewarding to guide this population on their yoga journeys and help them feel vibrant, capable, and celebrated in their later years.
"I highly recommend Madeline Medeiros-Taylor as a highly therapeutic yoga therapist. I worked one-on-one for over six months with Madeline for help with post-operative hip pain and mobility. Madeline tailored our sessions to target my specific needs post-op from my hip replacements, and so the experience was more than beneficial- it was truly therapeutic. I appreciated the grace she showed me when I hadn’t practiced on my own as often as I should have, and even more I felt proud when she could see I had made measurable gains in both my strength and my balance. If I had more pain than typical, she modified the poses to be more restorative. When she saw I was improving, she added a degree of difficulty to the program with more challenging poses. I believe with her help as my yoga therapist, I have finally reached a place where I can function without the pain I had before we began my individualized yoga therapy. I highly recommend Madeline for her knowledge and her ability to restore and heal the human body. " -Regina V.
